Well, I see what you mean, but it does look easier than canning them. Tonight I am making grape jelly and spiced seckel pears from grapes and pears we picked this weekend in Northville. Always quite a production, but satisfying.
Well, less a production for sure. Drying does take a very long time though. I also made concentrated sauce and freezed it. It is all worth it when there is sweet sweet tomato for the winter. I dried some plums too, but that isn't very photogenic...
I have always meant to try this technique. I think that's how they are SUPPOSED to look. Happy to know about this blog! Gillian's Mom
It took a day and a half in the oven with the light on and the door opened a couple of inches. The weather here in Vancouver is too unpredictable this time of the year to really sun-dry. Thank you Gillian's Mom.
